The Belle of Amherst (Live In-Person only)

Emily Dickinson is a giant of American arts and letters, but was virtually unknown in her lifetime. This enigmatic, independent and witty poet is richly revealed in William Luce’s vivid depiction of the artist. In this interactive discussion about the Palm Beach Dramaworks production, PBD’s Gary Cadwallader examines Dickinson’s life and poetry, her relationships, and her newfound popularity. Interesting multimedia clips supporting the discussion will be used to enhance the understanding of the production. Participants receive a copy of the play beforehand, and a comprehensive PBD Dramaguide written specifically for this discussion. After an in-depth conversation about life in Amherst and Dickinson’s progressive reclusion, participants leave with a deeper understanding of the play and the period in which it’s set.

This program is live in-person only.
