Songs Of Rod MacDonald (Video)

with Rod & The Humdingers

In 2020 Music Americana Instructor Rod MacDonald released his 13th cd, Boulevard, a collection of his “first songs” written before and during his initial year as a singer-songwriter in NYC’s Greenwich Village. Songs recorded by fellow artists include “A Sailor’s Prayer,” “Every Living Thing,” “American Jerusalem,” and “White Buffalo.” Other songs carry the stories of travel to reservations and newly-free Czechoslovakia, of occasional romance and multiple tours of Europe, Australia, and the US. Fort Lauderdale’s Labyrinth Café, where MacDonald sang in concert each year, noted “his personal commitment to communicating events that have affected and shaped our world’s societies…. Rod’s songs will stay in your heart and mind long after the music has ended.”

Join Rod & the Humdingers for a fun and low-decibel tour through Rod’s life and music, as told in his songs.

Music Americana: The New Golden Age (Video)

Artists become celebrated as their words and music speak to the hopes and dreams of the people, with grace, humor, passion, and style. From the historic grandeur of Tchaikovsky to the spare classicism of Pink Floyd; from the tales of the old west to the parables of Key West; from the sultry sound of Peggy Lee to the bigger-than-life presence of Tina Turner; from the street-corner dreams of doo wop groups to the footlights of Rent, their music describes our lives and times in song.

This course will examine the work, biographies and enduring importance of these musical artists, and attempt to sort myth from reality, using updated videos and excerpts from feature films, live performances and a few surprises.

This is for the video only.
