Lenny Dave

Comedy

Lenny Dave is a nationally recognized comedy historian, entertaining speaker and author. He has been informing and engaging a wide variety of active senior, congregational and civic audiences for over 35 years. Dave also serves on the Advisory Board of the new Borscht Belt Museum in Ellenville, NY (The Catskills). He is the only speaker to have performed in both the Red Skelton Entertainment Series and at the Oliver Hardy Festival. As both a student of comedy and a professional practitioner of humor, Dave’s highly interactive programs focus on the funny people who have made us laugh for decades. In performing successful surgery on the human spirit, Dave invites his audience to recall and relive so many happy memories of a time when the best comedy was both funny… and clean! A two-time "Speaker of the Year" nominee, Dave’s credentials also include a two-year term as (international) president of the Association for Applied & Therapeutic Humor.

Female Comedy Pioneers: Laughter Wears a Dress!

The presence of a strong leading woman in comedy was a rare sight for most of the first half of the 20th century. Comedy was a male-dominated field for a variety of societal reasons. There were, however, notable pioneers and groundbreakers in film, radio, on the Broadway stage, and early television. Some of their names and faces, you know and love. Others you'll want to get to know. In this fun and fast-paced program, Lenny shares the legends and legacies of female comedy giants such as Mae West, Lucy, Carol Burnett, Fannie Brice, Joan Rivers, Totie Fields, Sophie Tucker, Ethel Merman, Marie Dressler, Thelma Todd, Mary Tyler Moore, Betty White, and Bea Arthur.
